Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 20, 2026. This page explains what data ToPinyin collects and why.
The short version
Our core tools — the pinyin converter, hanzi dictionary, and worksheet generator — run entirely in your browser. We don't receive, store, or log the Chinese text you paste into them. We only collect data when you choose to create an account, and we use standard analytics and advertising cookies as described below.
What we collect
Converter and tool usage. Nothing. Text you convert, characters you look up, and worksheets you generate are processed locally in your browser and never sent to our servers.
Account information (optional). If you register an account, we store your email address and a hashed password, plus a session cookie so you stay signed in. We use this only to operate your account.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate usage, such as which pages are popular. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and processes data on Google's servers.
Advertising cookies. We show ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info/choices.
How we use and share data
We use collected data only to operate the site (accounts, analytics, advertising). We do not sell your personal information. Data may be processed by our infrastructure providers (hosting, analytics, advertising) as described above.
Your choices
You can use every tool on this site without an account. You can block cookies in your browser settings; the tools keep working, though analytics and ad personalization will stop. To delete your account and its data, email us at the address below and we will remove it.
